Opened in 1992, The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is one of the premier performing arts centers in the Southeast with both a national and international reputation. Situated on the highest point in West Palm Beach, the Kravis Center includes three venues: the 2,193-seat Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. Concert Hall; the flexible, 300-seat Rinker Playhouse; and the outdoor Michael and Andrew Gosman Amphitheatre with a capacity for 1,400 guests. In the fall of 2003, the Center unveiled a $31 million expansion project that included a new lobby for the Rinker Playhouse as well as the new and expanded Cohen Pavilion, a magnificent building that provides space for educational programs, artistic endeavors, business meetings and social occasions. The Roberta and Stephen R. Weiner Banquet Center inside the new Pavilion houses the elegant 700-seat Herbert and Elaine Gimelstob Ballroom. The Picower Foundation Arts Education Center on the second floor also features the Helen K. Persson Rehearsal Hall, a recording studio, dance studio, classrooms and lecture halls. The number of events hosted annually at the Kravis Center has grown to more than 1,800, with performance attendance of more than 400,000 patrons. This center offers a dynamic and varied schedule of performances from classical to the cutting-edge, including ballet, pop, jazz, Broadway, opera and more. Many regionally based arts organizations call the Kravis Center their home including Ballet Florida, Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Broadway Series, Palm Beach Opera, and the Palm Beach Pops. Established as a leading force in the social fabric of the community, the Kravis Center’s many outreach programs are as broad and varied as the community itself. To date, the Center has opened the door to the performing arts for more than 1 million schoolchildren as well as thousands of economically disadvantaged senior citizens, minorities and community groups.
