Pioneer Center
he mission of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts is to cultivate exceptional performing arts experiences in our historic venue and throughout the region because we envision a community that is connected, enriched, and inspired through the power of live performance. Located in downtown Reno, the Pioneer Center is the premier performing arts facility in northern Nevada, operating continuously since opening for business in 1968. We are on the National, Nevada State, and City of Reno Registers of Historic Places and a member of the League of Historic American Theatres. Our venue houses a 1,500-seat mainstage auditorium, the 175-seat Pioneer Underground cabaret-theater, and the E.L. Cord Plaza which is also used for live events and performances. Since 1995, the Pioneer Center has presented the Broadway Comes to Reno series, now in partnership with Nederlander National Markets. The Pioneer Center is the home venue of three resident companies: Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, A.V.A. Ballet Theatre, and Artown; and hosts a variety of touring dance companies, musicians, theater productions, and other local arts organizations each season. The Pioneer Center produces educational outreach performances with Pioneer Center Youth Programs as well as the annual Dog Days of Summer Dance Festival. On average, the Pioneer Center hosts over 100 events and serves over 100,000 patrons annually.
